Why Take a Honeymoon Vacation?

Honeymoons used to be the time that the family and friends would leave the new couple alone, giving the two of them a few weeks to get to know each other before others intrude into their new world. That is not quite necessary today. Couples tend to know each other quite well, and may have even lived together before the ceremony.

But couples still need to mark the beginning of their marriage and life as a committed couple. Often, the best way to do that is to get away – get out of town – go on a honeymoon . While everyone understands that concept, there are other reasons for taking a honeymoon vacation.

Before the honeymoon, there is the joy and the workload of a wedding. You have been consumed for weeks with wedding details: guest lists, purchases, contracts, social events and out-of-town company.

Now it is all over.

You are married and you and your new spouse could really use some downtime. A honeymoon gives you that time away in each other's company alone. But it also gives you a chance to recharge your batteries and start your life with the one you love. A honeymoon is about more than the intimate moments you will experience. If that is the case, you might as well book a room down the road, because you probably won't be seeing the city's sites. Try to balance your new relationship by getting out and seeing the world through each others' eyes.

Make your honeymoon destination a place that means something to both of you. What brings you both enjoyment? If it's being outdoors, then head for the beaches of Florida, an adventure hiking trip along parts of the Appalachian Trail or explore a snow-capped mountain peak in Colorado.

If you want to be incommunicado for a while, consider an exotic locale like Fiji, Jamaicaor another resort island.

If you are looking for fun, tour the amusement parks along the East Coast, starting with Disney World in Central Florida and working your way up to Six Flags in New Jersey.

Maybe you and your spouse are history buffs. If that's the case, what historic city would you like to see? Maybe London with the Tower of London's Beefeaters, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Princess Diana's memorial. How about Rome with the Sistine Chapel, Vatican City and the Coliseum? A few miles out, see the sites of Pompeii on the gorgeous Amalfi Coast.

If you cannot agree on one place that excites you both, consider vacation destinations where you will find a little bit of everything. For example, Las Vegas may bring to mind gambling, but there is much more to this area than casinos. There are challenging golf courses scattered across the desert and luscious resorts where you can soak up the sun. Take a helicopter tour of the strip or visit the countless shows and clubs. And while out west, plan to spend a few days away visiting the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park or Hoover Dam.

Your honeymoon is the chance to do virtually anything you've always wanted to do with the person you love. Find your perfect trip today.
