As much as we love Saint Lucia’s beaches, this gorgeous island is home to so much more, from the soaring Pitons to cultural festivals that sweep you off your feet until you’re part of the crowd. Everyone finds something to love in Saint Lucia – these are just a few of our favorites.

Refreshing Waterfalls

One of the most mountainous islands of the Caribbean, Saint Lucia can boast a number of awe-inspiring waterfalls, many of which are worth a visit. Go for a dip at the Toraille Waterfalls, or head out to the Sault Falls, where you just might have the place to yourself.

Getting Revitalized With a Mud Bath

The Soufriere Volcano is dormant, but the nearby hot springs are still welcoming visitors daily. The pools are packed with volcanic minerals thought to be great for the skin.

Sky-High Adventure

Get a bird’s eye view of the island with a zip lining adventure as you soar through the canopy, from one enormous banyan to the next. You may even, depending on the course, be able to get a look at historic Soufriere, stunning Petit Piton, and the sparkling waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Stunning Views

The Piton Mountains (Gros Piton and Petit Piton) rise 2,500 feet above the Caribbean, sitting on either side of the Jalousie Bay. The more popular with hikers is Gros Piton, also the taller of the two, and the hike to the top takes about two hours. Adventurers are richly rewarded with views of the sea, the other mountain, and the island itself.

Sunset Cruise

Enjoy a two-hour cruise off the coast of Saint Lucia to take in the stunning Caribbean sunset. As the sun slowly sinks below the horizon, you’ll enjoy a light supper with drinks and dancing, and you just may catch a glimpse of the elusive phenomenon known as the “Green Flash.”

Great Food

An incredible variety of culinary fare exists throughout the island at local festivals, international restaurants, and small local establishments alike. Here, you’re sure to find some of the best West and East Indian dishes on the planet.

Dancing in the Street

On Friday nights, Gros Islet hosts the island’s largest street party, with live bands, huge speakers, and chicken and fish grilled along the streets for when you need a break from dancing. Alternately, visit the Anse La Raye Fish Fry – also held on Friday nights.

Traditional (and Not-So-Traditional) Festivals

Jounen Kweyol Month – or Creole Month – is celebrated in October, with the largest celebrations falling on the last Sunday of the month with local dishes, music, traditional clothing, and more. The Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival is an internationally-known event, drawing artists and guests from around the world. The next one will be held from April 29 to May 8, 2016, when the Festival will be celebrating its 25th anniversary.
