Discover What's Lost
LT Globetrotter
Just outside your door, you’ll find a destination full of experiences that are truly one-of-a-kind, waiting to be discovered. In fact, there is so much to do and see, that it can be hard to know just where to start. As you set out to explore the many wonders of Atlantis, we invite you to discover more – whether it’s learning what it’s like to be a child again, or a lost sense of imagination, or simply the feeling of pure relaxation. You’ll discover the possibilities are endless.
Attributed originally to Plato around 360 BCE, the myth of Atlantis depicts a paradise created by half-god, half-human beings that existed about 9,000 years before even Plato. Though elements to the story are a bit magical, there are actually a number of historical and environmental factors that suggest a great sunken city could have feasibly existed. And, in The Bahamas, as we all know, it rises up again – with all the magic included.
But where should you stay when visiting this mythical paradise? You might be surprised to find out that there are myriad options when setting forth on your Atlantis adventure.
To The Towers!
For great value and a family-friendly setting, Atlantis Beach Tower is a great place to stay. With guest rooms and garden rooms, and just steps from family fun, the beach, and swimming areas, this is where you’ll find a come-as-you-are Caribbean spirit.
For another family-friendly experience, you can stay at Atlantis Coral Towers, an area steeped in a contemporary and relaxed Bahamian ambiance with an incredible view of the iconic Royal Towers. Moderately priced, and near plenty of family-friendly accommodations and activities, this is a less busy area even though all the towers are connected.
The Royal Towers are the heartbeat of Atlantis, centrally located to all the attractions. An iconic, deluxe, and renowned area, it includes direct access to The Dig, Ruins Lagoon, Aquaventure Water Park, 11 pools, and the Atlantis Casino. Staying at the Royal Towers will also leave you faced with unbelievable suite options. Decisions, decisions!
Villa, Villa, Villa!
Villa is what you’ll get at the moderately priced, family-friendly Harborside Resort. This section, also a part of Atlantis, is able to accommodate up to nine people, so invite everyone in the family to enjoy The Bahamian paradise! This spot is ideally located in Downtown Paradise Island, a completely separate area perfect for timeshares due to its space and full kitchens. In between the beach and the bay, this spot lets you marvel at the fancy, celebrity-owned yachts parked out front. It is also situated, so you can take a leisurely stroll over to multiple shops, restaurants, live music, and island vibes.
A Reef or A Cove, That is a Difficult Question
The Reef Atlantis is an incredible residential luxury area offering up some serious space. This is where you want to be if you’re looking for the Bahamian atmosphere with a true sense of having a home away from home. Make this your own Bahamian residence and enjoy exclusive access to Cascades Pool, a family-friendly zero-entry pool with stunning views and access to the white sands of Paradise Beach.
The Cove Atlantis is where you want to stay for the ultimate luxury experience. Bottom line: choose the Cove for the most fashionable, sophisticated, and chic spot in all of Atlantis. This upscale guest experience begins at the extraordinarily exquisite open-air lobby, and exclusive amenities include access to Cain at the Cove, an adults-only ultra-pool and beach club. This might literally be Plato’s Atlantis resurrected to scale!
So, you’ve decided where to stay – now, what are some things to do besides hang at the beach?
Dolphin Cay
This is one of the largest and most sophisticated marine habitats and animal rescue-rehabilitation facilities in the world. Swim with dolphins and learn about underwater creatures and ocean conservation. There are many ways you can approach your informative and fun exploration of Dolphin Cay. Shallow Water Interaction allows you to hang with dolphins in waist-high water, while the Deep Water Swim lets you go a little deeper. Take an underwater adventure with an Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin and swim alongside it. Feel the rush of the “foot push” as the dolphin literally propels you across the water. Yes – it’s as amazing as it sounds.
Aquaventure Water Park
From water slides, a mile-long river ride, pools, and beaches, to private cabanas and a rock climbing wall, this water park will pose one major problem for you – deciding what you’ll do next! Take advantage of 141 acres of waterscape – enjoy high speed water slides, 20 swimming areas, an amazing kids water-play fort, and – in our estimation – best of all, the mile-long river ride with rolling rapids and intermittent wave surges. This is calming and exhilarating! If just looking for a calming ride down a lazy river, you’re in luck; there is one lazy river that, well, remains lazy, a quarter-mile loop that meanders through a tropical landscape. For a few bursts of energy, take on The Current, a mile-long river that will propel you on inner tubes via water escalators, rolling waves, and extreme rapids powered by master blaster technology. It will be a ride to remember!
Of course, any trip to Atlantis isn’t complete unless you get up close and personal with sharks, barracudas, and sawfish on a fast-paced inner tube on an exhilarating ride in the Mayan Temple Shark Lagoon. You have a couple of slide options when wanting to come face-to-face with some sharks; for speed, use the Leap of Faith slide, a daring 60-foot near-vertical drop from atop the iconic Mayan Temple. The slide sends riders at extremely fast speeds through a clear tunnel submerged in a shark-filled lagoon. Another approach to have a shark sighting is the Serpent Slide, which sends you on a tube through the darkness of a Mayan Temple, through twists and turns, and out into a tunnel amidst a world of sharks. Either way, it will be frighteningly fun! Up the fright and excitement by taking a Walk with the Sharks Adventure. By using state-of-the-art clear-glass helmets, walk on the actual bottom of the Shark Exhibit and find yourself nose-to-nose with some fascinating creatures.
Marine Habitat/ The Dig
The Dig offers up a close look at the fabulous streets and tunnels of the lost city of Atlantis through stunning exhibits. Snorkel the ruins of Atlantis (see – it’s real!), through an underwater area made to look like the sunken city come to life. The Dig is also essentially an aquarium, featuring over 100 venomous Indo-Pacific Ocean Lionfish, 500 piranhas, iridescent jellyfish, and six-foot Moray Eels! Check out colorful tropical fish, and be sure to head over to the touch tank aquarium featuring conch, starfish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, crabs, and horseshow crabs. The tank is designed for all ages to interact with spectacular marine life.
Also, do not miss out on The Atlantis Stingray Experience. This provides an amazing hands-on encounter with hundreds of Cownose stingrays and colorful, tropical fish. You’ll have a unique opportunity to feed the stingrays in a shallow lagoon, and even be able to snorkel beside them.
When you’re at Atlantis, you’ll have an incredible opportunity to explore an extraordinary collection of marine habitats and aquarium exhibits, all showcasing exotic marine life – more than 50,000 aquatic animals representing over 250 marine species. Pretty much everywhere you turn, something spectacular is happening in water.
Relaxing, informative, fun, adventurous, and – of course – mythical. That’s what your stay at Atlantis will be like, however you choose to experience it.
