Jamaica

Whether you’re looking to get back to nature or immerse yourself into the music and culture scene, Jamaica is an island with someone for everyone. For a truly authentic Jamaican experience, make sure to spend plenty of time discovering this Caribbean country. This includes everything from visiting Dunn’s River Falls and swimming in vivid bioluminescent waters to bamboo riving rafting and snorkeling the coral reefs. Evenings are filled with the vibrantly distinct sights, sounds, and tastes of this renowned island, including Jamaica’s rhythmic reggae music and legendary jerk-spiced chicken. This itinerary has guests staying near Ocho Rios, which gives you the ability to visit all of the major sights across the island.

Day 1: Rest up & relax

Jamaica

After you arrive take the rest of the day to rejuvenate yourself while exploring your resort. Book a luxurious spa treatment and indulge in a massage or skin replenishing facial, find the perfect spot beside a pool to crack open a new book, or walk over to the beach to watch the waves as you sip your first tropical cocktail. Finish the day with a twilight dinner at the resort or take a ride into Ocho Rios to explore the local nightlife.

Day 2: Chasing waterfalls

Dunn's Waterfalls

After breakfast at your hotel or resort, take a tour to the world-famous Dunn’s River Falls and Park. Located only 10-20 minutes from Ocho Rios (depending on your exact location), this is the perfect full-day adventure. Make sure to wear water shoes that are good for climbing (although some people hike up the falls barefoot), and bring sunscreen, towel, and your water resistant phone or camera. You can trek up 960 feet to the top of the cascading falls, play in the shallow waterfall pools, and relax on the beautiful beach. Visitors can also zip line over the falls, picnic along the gentle river in the Tranquility Garden, and play at the nearby splash pad and waterslide in the Central Garden (perfect for kids).

Day 3: Glow with it

Bioluminescent Lagoon

Take a taxi or shuttle to Montego Bay where you can spend most of the day in a variety of ways including exploring the Green Grotto Caves, discovering Rastafarian culture at an Indigenous village, playing a stellar round of golf, or enjoying a relaxing ride down the Martha Brae River on a hand-crafted bamboo raft. Don’t forget to indulge in some classic Jamaican cuisine. Later, head to the Glistening Waters Marina for a boat tour of the absolutely amazing Luminous Lagoon. One of only four in the world, at night this special lagoon emits an otherworldly glow thanks to microscopic organisms that sparkle and glisten when disturbed. The boat even stops to let guests swim in the glowing waters for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Day 4: Ocean adventures

sunset sail

After two solid days of exploring Jamaica, today you can sleep in and start the day at your own pace before hitting the open water. Before you arrive, plan ahead and decide just what type of boat adventure you want to experience today (because there are options aplenty). You can take a deep sea fishing tour with an experienced crew to catch blue marlin, tuna, sailfish, and more. Attend a party at sea during a reggae-filled catamaran cruise offering delectable appetizers and exotic cocktails to pair with your wonderous Caribbean views. Or keep things mellow with a relaxing sunset sail that’s ideal for a romantic evening.

Day 5: A whole new world

snorkeling

It’s your last chance to discover Jamaica and if you love to snorkel or have always wanted to try it, now is the time. Ocho Rios has plenty of places for snorkeling and scuba diving, most which provide you with gear. Your experienced guides will take you out to the best spots in the area to experience the underwater world firsthand. After you dry off and head to dry land make sure to catch some live music in town as you enjoy lunch or an afternoon snack before heading back to your resort.
